Health & Safety Considerations
Ayahuasca is a strong sacramental experience that works on the body, mind, and nervous system at the same time. Because of this, it is not appropriate or safe for everyone. Your well-being comes first, and careful screening is essential.
If you are currently taking medications that affect mood, perception, pain, blood pressure, or the nervous system, participation may not be safe. Certain physical and mental health conditions can also increase risk. We ask that all guests take time to honestly review the information below and reach out with any questions before deciding to attend.
Is this experience right for me?
It is natural to seek healing, clarity, or relief when life feels heavy. At the same time, stepping into a deep inner journey requires that your body and nervous system are stable enough to support the process. Ayahuasca is not a shortcut, and it is not meant to override medical realities.
This experience should only be approached when it can be done responsibly, safely, and with care for your long-term health.
Full disclosure of any medical conditions, mental health history, and medications or supplements is required, even if you feel they are minor or well-managed. Transparency allows us to protect you and the integrity of the space.
General Participation Guidelines
Participants must be in overall stable physical and mental health. The standard age range for participation is 18–65 years old.
Those with a history of serious psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or other psychotic disorders should not participate. Even in the absence of medication, the experience can intensify symptoms and cause destabilization rather than healing.
Likewise, individuals with significant cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, seizure disorders, or a history of stroke are not able to safely participate.
Medications & Substance Interactions
Ayahuasca can elevate heart rate and blood pressure and strongly interacts with substances that affect brain chemistry. It is not safe to combine with:
Psychiatric or antidepressant medications
Anxiety or mood-stabilizing drugs
Pain medications
Blood pressure or heart medications
Seizure medications
Certain recreational substances
In addition, many supplements, including herbs, weight-loss products, cough syrups, and over-the-counter remedies, can create dangerous interactions.
For safety, non-essential medications and supplements should be discontinued at least two weeks prior, with 30 days of preparation being the safest and most supportive option when possible. This preparation period includes following the recommended Ayahuasca dieta and physical preparation guidelines.
Never stop prescribed medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
Our Commitment to Safety
Our role is to protect your health before, during, and after the experience. We approach screening with care, not judgment. If we determine that participation is not safe, it is done out of responsibility, not exclusion.
If you are unsure whether this experience is appropriate for you, please reach out. We are happy to talk through your situation and help you make an informed decision.
Honest communication is essential. When safety is aligned, the experience can unfold in a way that is grounded, respectful, and supportive for everyone involved.
